8 days Rwanda Safari will start and end in Kigali, taking you to the most visited tourist destinations in Rwanda starting with Akagera national park for game drives and boat rides, gorilla tracking in volcanoes national park, community visits, exploring lake Kivu, chimpanzee tracking, nature walks and so much more.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National park and afternoon boat cruise.
In the morning, you will set off a scenic drive to Akagera national park, reaching early for lunch. After lunch, go for afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you will be rewarded with view of game as hippos, crocodiles, as well as a variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight at Rusizi tented Lodge/Akagera Game Lodge.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer back to Kigali.
Early morning, you will go for game drives up to the northern part of the park to catch up with early raisers before they go into hiding. You will have chance to see, antelopes, giraffes, Elephants, Buffalos, bush bucks among others. You will then exit the park and proceed to Volcanoes national park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas reaching in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura Hotel/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge/Mountain gorilla View Lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla tracking and evening Cultural walk.
In the morning after an early breakfast, gather at the park headquarters at 7:30am for a compulsory pre-tracking briefing where you are also allocated a group to track. After briefing from the senior park ranger you will commence your memorable gorilla trekking which normally takes 2 to 6 hours in the jungle. You will be allowed to stay in the presence of the gorillas for a maximum of 1 full hour. Later return to your Hotel for Relaxation. In the evening, you may go for cultural walk to Iby’wachu. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Golden Monkey tracking and Transfer to Lake Kivu.
In the morning after an early breakfast, you will gather at the park headquarters for briefing before heading for golden Monkey tracking. On return, you you will set off a spectacular drive to Lake Kivu in Gisenyi. You may take a boat cruise up to the hot springs upon arrival. Dinner and overnight at Kivu Serena Hotel/Paradise Malahide/Palm Garden resort.

Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest NP.
In the morning, you will set off a scenic long drive to Nyungwe National park with en route stopover for photography and lunch, reaching in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge/Nyungwe Top View Lodge/Gisakura Hotel.

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon primate walk in the forest.
In the morning, you will set off to the forest for chimpanzee tracking adventure. Embark to the hotel for lunch and in the afternoon, go for colobus monkey tracking where you will encounter other primates as baboons, vervet monkeys, and others. You will then visit the tea factory in the evening to know more about the tea production. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Nature walk and afternoon canopy walk.
In the morning, you will go nature walk trail up to the waterfalls, where you will view variety of bird species as well as monkeys along the trail. In the afternoon, go for the breathtaking forest canopy walk, where you will view the entire Nyungwe Forest top view as well as birds among others. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer to Kigali.
In the morning, you will have set off back to Kigali with en route stopover in Murambi genocide memorial , Butare museum , Nyanza museum, among other areas good for more information about Rwanda’s history and adventure. You will reach Kigali in the evening.
