3 Day Rwanda Gorilla Safari - Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Rwanda and Transfer to the gorilla trekking park
On arrival at Kigali Airport, your assigned Driver/guide shall drive you northwards to the Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri; there are over 300 mountain gorillas living here. Most tracker prefer to spend rest of the day resting and warming up for the gorilla trek next day. At this moment get used to the high altitudes, make sure your gorilla trekking gear is set and ready to go. Any literature that may be of interest to you about the Gorillas can be read at this moment as you rest.
Dinner and overnight at Gorillas view Hotel. Other Budget Hotels are available.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes
Mountain Gorillas prefer to feed and live in the high altitudes; a gorilla trek starts at 8am with brieifing at the park headquarters, you should have everyting ready with you: drinking water, packed lunch and your tracking gear.
After briefing, its time to begin the tracking activitity in the forest, looking for gorilla may take you 2-8 hours to find them - depends on their movements that day. You are allowed a maximum time of 1 hour to stay with the gorillas after you find them, take some shots, watch them feed/ play and later get back to your Hotel.
Depending on your choices and time allowing, gorilla trekking parks are filled with many other things to see around; short nature treks, simple bird watching, butterflies and other widlife that might be met along the way. Visiting the african communities around the gorilla parks is also one good attraction for most trekkers i.e. meet the people, learn about their lifestyle and culture. You wil spend most of the evening relaxing at the Hotel you booked. Dinner and overnight stay - same as previous night.

Day 3: End of Gorilla Safari and Transfer to Kigali.
After breakfast at the Hotel, the guide/driver shall transfer you bakck to Kigali for a flight. The journey from Ruhengeri has captivating nature scenes; some might be good stop overs for your lens. You might need to do some light shopping in Kigali city or take a short city tour before heading to the Airport. Some places to visit in Kigali; local market, genocide memorial center and the museum. You shall then head to your Hotel if spending a night in Kigali or get to the Airport for your flight to end the Holiday in Rwanda.
