8 day gorilla tour itinerary

This eight days will take you to all the National parks of Rwanda, with Chimpanzee tracking, Wildlife tour in Akagera National park, and Gorilla tracking and Golden Monkey tracking in Volcanoes National park.

Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National park and afternoon boat cruise.
In the morning, you will set off a scenic drive to Akagera national park, reaching early for lunch at Rusizi tented Lodge. After lunch, go for afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you will be rewarded with view of game as hippos, crocodiles, as well as a variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight at Rusizi tented Lodge/Akagera Game lodge.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Volcanoes National park.
Early morning, you will go for game drives up to the northern part of the park to catch up with early raisers before they go into hiding. You will have chance to see, antelopes, giraffes, Elephants, Buffalos, bush bucks among others. You will then exit the park and proceed back to Kigali with Lunch enroute, reaching early in the afternoon. You will then proceed to Volcanoes NP reaching late in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/La Palme Hotel/Muhabura Hotel.

Day 3: Gorilla tracking and cultural walk.
In the morning, with packed lunch, you will go for pre tracking briefing at the part headquarters before going for the gorilla tracking adventure in the forest. Tracking may take 3-6 hours depending on the movement of the gentle giants. Stay in the presence of the gorillas for a maximum of one hour before returning back. In the evening, you will visit the Iby'wachu where you will learn more about the Rwanda traditional culture. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Golden monkey tracking/Dian Fosey hike and transfer to Lake Kivu.
This day, you will either go for golden monkey tracking or Dian Fosey Hike. On return, you will set off a spectacular drive to Lake Kivu reaching in the evening for a boat cruise to the hot springs. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel/Paradise malahide.

Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest NP.
In the morning, you will set off a long drive to Nyungwe National park reaching in the evening for dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge/Nyungwe Top View Lodge/Gisakura Hotel.

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon primate walk in the forest.
In the morning, you will set off to the forest for chimpanzee tracking adventure. Embark to the hotel for lunch and in the afternoon, go for colobus monkey tracking where you will encounter other primates as baboons, vervet monkeys, and others. You will then visit the tea factory in the evening to know more about the tea production. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Nature walk and afternoon canopy walk.
In the morning, you will go nature walk trail up to the waterfalls, where you will view variety of bird species as well as monkeys along the trail. In the afternoon, go for the breathtaking forest canopy walk, where you will view the entire Nyungwe Forest top view as well as birds among others. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge.

Day 8: Transfer to Kigali.
In the morning, you will set off back to Kigali. You will have en route stopover in Nyanza museum, Butare museum, Murambi genocide memorial among other areas good for more information about Rwanda's history and adventure reaching Kigali in the evening and transfer to the airport if your flight is on schedule.
